EUREGHA Launches Its Mental Health Collection of Practices at #EURegionsWeek 2026

22 Practices, One Shared Goal: Better Mental Health

On 12 October 2026, EUREGHA launched its Mental Health Collection of Practices during the European Week of Regions and Cities, presenting a new resource to support knowledge exchange and collaboration among regional and local health authorities across Europe.

The collection brings together 22 mental health practices submitted by EUREGHA members, illustrating how regions are translating shared policy priorities into concrete initiatives tailored to their communities. It covers five thematic areas: population and settings-based prevention; youth access, transitions and inclusion; integrated community care and recovery; targeted support and workforce capacity; and cross-border healthcare cooperation.

From youth-focused programmes and community-based initiatives to digital solutions, integrated care pathways and regional policy frameworks, the publication highlights the diversity of approaches being developed across Europe to promote mental well-being, strengthen prevention and early intervention, and deliver more person-centred mental health care.

The launch took place in the context of EUREGHA’s policy debate, “Advancing Equitable Mental Health Across Europe: Regional Action for Stronger, More Resilient Systems”, held in partnership with the European Committee of the Regions’ NAT Commission, the Interregional Group on Health and Well-being, and the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe. The discussion explored how regional leadership, cross-sector cooperation, coordinated governance and sustainable investment can help bridge the gap between European policy commitments and implementation on the ground, with particular attention to mental health inequalities across the life course and gender-related disparities.

Beyond showcasing existing initiatives, the collection identifies common implementation challenges, including intersectoral coordination, workforce capacity, sustainable resources, equitable access and evaluation. It also highlights the enabling role of strong partnerships, stakeholder participation and clear governance.

Designed as a resource for mutual learning, the collection aims to inspire new approaches, facilitate the exchange of regional expertise and support the adaptation of successful practices across different territorial contexts. It is conceived as a living resource, with opportunities for EUREGHA members to contribute further experiences to future editions.
