About Periscope
PERISCOPE (Pan-European Response to the Impacts of COVID-19 and future Pandemics and Epidemics) is a Horizon 2020 project aiming to investigate the broad socio-economic and behavioural impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. By integrating expertise from medicine, public health, economics, political science, law, and behavioural sciences, the project seeks to enhance Europe’s preparedness and resilience for future health crises.
The consortium brings together leading European universities, research institutes, think tanks, health organisations, and networks like EUREGHA to ensure that findings are translated into actionable policy recommendations.
Goals and Activities
Collect and analyse data on the health, socio-economic, and behavioural impacts of COVID-19.
Develop a comprehensive, interdisciplinary framework to understand pandemic effects.
Measure impacts on health systems and vulnerable populations.
Provide evidence-based policy guidance for future crisis preparedness.
Disseminate knowledge to stakeholders at all levels of governance.
Work Packages and Key Activities
EUREGHA contributes to:
WP3: Measuring impacts on health systems.
WP11: Stakeholder engagement.
WP13: Project management and governance.
WP14: Dissemination and outreach.
Activities include engaging regional health authorities, collecting best practices through surveys and workshops, validating project outcomes with policy-makers, and communicating results through EUREGHA’s European network.
Our Contribution
EUREGHA’s responsibilities in PERISCOPE include:
Mobilising regional and local health authorities to participate in data collection and policy validation.
Supporting the development of holistic policy guidance for pandemic response.
Organising participatory workshops to engage policy-makers.
Coordinating dissemination activities and events, including a major Brussels-based dissemination event.
Leveraging its network to maximise the uptake of project findings at regional and EU levels.
By bridging research, policy, and practice, EUREGHA ensures that PERISCOPE’s results lead to real-world improvements in pandemic preparedness and response.
