During autumn, EUREGHA continued its active involvement in the InnoMed Catalyst project, supporting interregional collaboration and innovation in digital health. Through a series of high-profile events, the project explored how artificial intelligence (AI) and data-driven solutions can accelerate the transition toward 5P Medicine: Predictive, Preventive, Personalized, Participatory, and Population-based.
From 6–8 October, EUREGHA joined partners at BioSpain 2025 in Barcelona, one of Europe’s leading biotechnology and healthcare innovation events. On 7 October, EUREGHA’s Policy and Projects Manager Marco Di Donato took part in the roundtable “Catalyzing 5P Health: Where Are We Regarding Data?”, co-organised with Biocat. Participants discussed how data interoperability and trustworthy governance are essential for patient-centred, value-based care. The session highlighted the European Health Data Space (EHDS) as a key driver for harmonising approaches between countries and regions, and practical examples like the Hospital de Cerdanya illustrated ongoing challenges in cross-border data exchange.
The following day, partners visited Sant Joan de Déu Children’s Hospital, a centre of excellence for pediatric and rare disease care. The visit showcased the Unicas Personalized Medicine Campus, where clinical care, research, and innovation converge. Participants explored initiatives such as IFOR Kids, a pediatric innovation network connecting research groups and startups, and Casa Sofia, a home-like facility for chronically ill children and families. Discussions emphasised the importance of patient engagement, philanthropy, and collaborative innovation in advancing rare disease care and digital health.
In the afternoon, the InnoMed Catalyst Partners Roundtable on AI and Data in 5P Medicine brought together stakeholders including ELEM Biotech, BSC, TIC Salut, Epix AI, Regione Emilia-Romagna, and Apollo AI. Conversations focused on data accessibility, privacy, and interoperability, highlighting the need for federated data-sharing models, regional cooperation, and living labs that connect innovators, regulators, and healthcare providers to test solutions in real-world settings.
The project continued its momentum on 13-14 November in Bologna, hosting the InnoMed Catalyst Demo Day to celebrate the completion of Round 1 of the project’s Accelerator. More than 150 participants—including startups, spinoffs, early-SMEs, founders, investors, clinicians, and mentors—gathered to showcase innovation, exchange ideas, and strengthen the European MedTech and HealthTech ecosystem. The event featured inspiring pitches, meaningful discussions, and new connections across regions, reflecting the community’s shared vision for better health through technology.
