On 17–18 September, EUREGHA joined partners, startups, investors, healthcare professionals and innovation actors in Madeira for the InnoMedCatalyst Demo Day, hosted locally by Startup Madeira as part of the project’s second acceleration programme.
The event brought together around participants from all over Europe, including representatives from the 13 European project partners, alongside startups, entrepreneurs, investors and HealthTech and MedTech experts. At the centre of the programme were 10 startups from five countries, pitching innovative solutions with the potential to contribute to the digital transformation of health systems.
The Demo Day featured startup pitches before an international jury, followed by adedicated roundtable brought together representatives from EIT Health, Grow Venture Partners, LabToMarket and Emil Banca to discuss investment, entrepreneurship and the challenges of scaling HealthTech solutions across borders.
Beyond the pitches, the programme created space for matchmaking, knowledge transfer and future collaboration. A Project Development Workshop on 18 September explored how innovative solutions and ecosystem actors can connect with new European projects, partnerships and funding opportunities.
The two days also offered participants a closer look at Madeira’s regional health and innovation ecosystem through visits to the New Central and University Hospital of Madeira, Coolzoone Madeira and the Madeira Clinical Simulation Centre – SESARAM.
For EUREGHA, this was an important opportunity to exchange with key players on the ground about innovation uptake and scale-up in 5P Precision Medicine. What emerges from these 2 days is the fundamental role of regional ecosystems and life science clusters in connecting innovators with healthcare providers, public authorities, research organisations and investment actors, helping promising solutions move from development towards real-world implementation.
