EUREGHA was in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) on 3-4 June 2026 for the DynamiCity project’s Kick-off Meeting (KOM), hosted by the city of L’Hospitalet (project partner) and Eurecat (project coordinator), marking the official launch of this new European project. With the direct involvement of 12 cities across Europe, DynamiCity aims to promote healthier, more active and sustainable urban environments by strengthening the links between health, mobility, cancer prevention and survivorship, and climate-neutral cities.
The meeting opened with presentations from the European Commission, introducing the EU Mission on Cancer (DG RTD) and the EU Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission by CINEA, setting the broader policy context for DynamiCity’s work at the intersection of health, mobility and sustainable urban transformation. Partners engaged in interactive sessions and group discussions to align on the project’s direction, city pilots and expected outcomes, exploring how active mobility can serve as a tool for cancer prevention, survivorship and healthier urban living.
On the second day, partners gathered to dive deeper on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and impact metrics, refining the project’s communication approach, and meeting within their working packages to coordinate contributions. The day closed with a joint consolidation session to agree on priorities and define the next steps ahead.
About Dinamicity
Over the next three years, DynamiCity will demonstrate how urban transport systems can be transformed into net positive contributors not only to cleaner, better-connected cities, but also to cancer prevention and improved survivorship. The project advances a paradigm shift: transport is no longer a source of negative impacts, such as safety issues and pollution related health risks, but rather a strategic means to promote healthy lifestyles and overall wellbeing. Through human-centred, multi-level interventions in 12 different cities (incl. 6 net zero cities), DynamiCity will enhance active travel health literacy, empower diverse target groups to incorporate walking and cycling into cancer prevention pathways, and strengthen both physical and mental health. By delivering tangible outcomes in infrastructure, behavioural interventions, interdisciplinary training, and integrated policies, DynamiCity will break down silos between health and transport, paving the way for cross-sectoral, cross- European collaborations that place active mobility at the core of integrated transport planning and health strategies. Effectiveness will be measured through active travel uptake, reduced environmental exposure, and health-related outcomes linked to cancer prevention.
Role of EUREGHA in the Project
Within DynamiCity, EUREGHA will contribute by supporting stakeholder engagement, knowledge exchange, communication and dissemination activities, as well as policy adaptation and uptake through its network of regional and local health authorities, helping to ensure that the project’s outcomes translate into real change for regions and cities across Europe.
