CultureAndHealth Platform

The CultureAndHealth Platform is a four-year transformative initiative led by Culture Action Europe, bringing together cultural organisations, health networks and local authorities to strengthen the connection between culture, health, care, education and social sectors across Europe. The Platform aims to support over 200 emerging artistsworking at the intersection of culture and health, while highlighting the role of arts and culture in promoting health, well-being and social innovation.

The ultimate aim of the initiative is to strengthen the culture and health ecosystem across Europe by creating opportunities for artists to develop and implement projects that contribute to health and well-being, while fostering stronger connections between the cultural, health and social sectors. Through grants, mobility and networking opportunities, capacity-building activities and increased visibility, the Platform supports artists and helps create an enabling environment for culture and health initiatives.

To achieve this, the Platform provides a range of activities for artists and professionals, including funding opportunities, international learning and mobility, training sessions, peer-learning workshops, networking events and conferences. More than 170 artists are expected to receive grants, while the initiative will offer more than 60 trainings and 30 peer-learning workshops. The Platform also supports exchange and collaboration through national and European activities, helping artists develop new practices and connect with organisations working in health, care, education and social settings.

A key element of the Platform is its European and multi-sectoral approach. It brings together artists, cultural organisations, healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and local and regional authorities, recognising that effective culture and health initiatives require collaboration across disciplines and sectors. Through national points of contact in 14 countries, alongside a network of European partners, the initiative adapts opportunities to different local contexts while fostering exchange and learning across Europe.

Key outcomes

Culture & Health Forums

The Culture & Health Forums bring together artists, health and social-care professionals, researchers, policymakers and cultural organisations to explore the contribution of arts and culture to health and well-being. The Forums provide spaces for exchange, peer learning, networking and policy dialogue at both European and national levels. EUREGHA contributes by bringing the perspective of regional and local health authorities and highlighting how culture can be integrated into regional health strategies and local health systems. The Platform has organised major Forum editions in Turku in 2025 and Vienna in 2026.

EUREGHA Webinars

Through two dedicated EUREGHA webinars, the CultureAndHealth Platform has provided opportunities to connect European evidence and policy perspectives with regional and local experiences in the field of culture and health.

The first webinar ''Culture and Health for All: From European Visions to Local Implementation'' brought together European and international experts, including representatives from the European Commission and WHO, alongside regional practitioners from Central Denmark and Stockholm. The discussion explored the contribution of culture to health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on mental health, evidence-based approaches and the role of regions and cities in translating European perspectives into local action.

The second webinar, “Scaling up Arts on Prescription Models: From Evidence to Regional Implementation”, focused on different Arts on Prescription models and their potential to be embedded and scaled within health systems. The event brought together institutional, research and regional perspectives, highlighting the role of regional and local health authorities in implementing and sustaining culture-based interventions. The event brought together institutional, research and regional perspectives, highlighting the role of regional and local health authorities in implementing and sustaining culture-based interventions.

National & European Rounds

The CultureAndHealth Platform facilitates national and European rounds of exchange, bringing together artists, cultural organisations, health professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders to share experiences, practices and perspectives on culture and health. Through roundtables, information sessions and European-level discussions, these activities connect national and local experiences with wider European developments and foster cross-sector collaboration.

Shadowing & International Mobility

The Platform supports international learning and mobility opportunities that allow artists to gain first-hand experience of different approaches to culture and health. Shadowing activities provide opportunities to observe practices in another context, exchange with peers and professionals, develop new connections and bring new perspectives back to participants’ own work.

Artists’ Database & Trainings

The CultureAndHealth Platform supports artists through visibility and capacity building. The Artists’ Database showcases artists working at the intersection of culture, health, care, education and social sectors, highlighting their practices and projects across Europe. Alongside this, the Platform offers training activities addressing topics such as safeguarding, creating safe spaces, workshop facilitation, professional competencies, ethics and project development, helping artists strengthen their skills and develop their work across the culture and health sectors.
