EUREGHA Annual Conference 2026

EUREGHA invites regional and local health authorities, European institutions, healthcare organisations, patient representatives and partners to join its Annual Conference on Monday 30 November 2026 at ErreraHuis in Brussels!

Co-hosted by EUREGHA with the support of the Flemish Department of Care, this year’s conference will focus on “Safe Hearts, Strong Regions: Implementing the European Safe Hearts Plan through Regional Action.” The event will connect European policy perspectives with regional experiences, exploring how cooperation can strengthen cardiovascular prevention and care and reduce health inequalities.

Regional and local health authorities are key partners in translating European ambitions into improvements for communities. From reaching underserved populations to coordinating services and integrating new technologies, their experience can help shape approaches that respond to different territorial needs. Through this conference, EUREGHA will bring these perspectives into dialogue with European institutions and the wider health community.

The opening plenary, “From European ambition to regional action,” will set the scene for discussions on the European Safe Hearts Plan and its implementation. Confirmed contributors include Iñaki Gutiérrez Ibarluzea, EUREGHA Chair and Health Research, Innovation and Evaluation Director at the Basque Government’s Ministry for Health; Anna Dominiczak, Chief Health Scientist at the Scottish Government; and Carmine Pacente, Member of the European Committee of the Regions and rapporteur on its Safe Hearts Plan opinion.

Participants will then join one of two parallel workshops, combining expert contributions with discussions in small groups:

  • Prevention and early detection: Exploring how regional and local action can address cardiovascular risk factors, promote healthier lifestyles and reach underserved populations. Discussions will focus on community-based approaches, equitable access to cardiovascular health checks and reducing health inequalities.

  • Integrated care and innovation: Examining how digital tools, health data and artificial intelligence can support risk assessment and personalised care. Participants will explore opportunities and challenges for integrating these solutions into regional health services, ensuring equitable access and linking early detection with effective follow-up care.

Both workshops will give participants space to share practices, identify common challenges and develop key messages for the closing plenary. The final session, “Bringing regional insights together,” will connect these findings and explore how cooperation between European institutions and regions can support implementation of the Safe Hearts Plan and opportunities for joint action.

The conference will conclude with a networking reception, offering further opportunities to exchange ideas and build partnerships.

Join us in Brussels to share your experience and help connect European cardiovascular health ambitions with regional action.
