The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been deep and wide. The spread of disinformation, the lack of adequate scientific advice and communication and the distrust in the reliability of data have all contributed to the chaos and a possible lack of policy learning. In spite of unprecedented efforts to understand the COVID-19 disease and its causative virus SARS-CoV-2 significant knowledge gaps persist. Against this background, PERISCOPE plans to contribute to a dramatically deeper understanding of the dynamics of the outbreak, by means of intense multi-disciplinary research, both theoretical and experimental and the consideration of different viewpoints: clinic and epidemiologic; humanistic and psychologic; socio-economic and political; statistical and technological.

The goal is to develop a comprehensive, user-friendly, openly accessible COVID Atlas, which should become a reference tool for researchers and policymakers, and also a source of information and data visualisation to disseminate to the general public.

The project gathers 32 partners (networks, universities, private companies and research organisations) from 15 countries.

EUREGHA and its members contributed to the a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on “Strengthening the territorial response for better health”, which is available here
