EUREGHA Continues as Secretariat of the Interregional Group on Health and Well-being for the 2025–2030 Mandate

The Interregional Group on Health and Well-being (IRGHW) at the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has officially launched its activities for 2025. EUREGHA  is pleased to continue serving as the official Secretariat of the group, supporting this vital platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action in the field of health and care at regional and local levels.

Established as an informal group within the CoR, the IRGHW provides a space for members to exchange experiences, raise awareness of regional needs, and shape EU health policies with a territorial dimension. It serves as a unique forum to bring local and regional authorities into direct conversation with European institutions, ensuring their perspectives are reflected in policymaking processes.

Each year, the IRGHW organises four thematic meetings, convening CoR members, regional health authorities, EU policymakers, experts, and civil society representatives. These sessions are dedicated to exploring key health-related challenges and opportunities and contribute to strengthening the implementation of the European Health Union through a place-based approach.

As Secretariat, EUREGHA is responsible for coordinating the group’s annual programme of work, supporting the organisation and communication of meetings, facilitating connections with EU health initiatives and funding instruments, and engaging with stakeholders to maximise the group’s visibility and impact.

The 2025–2030 mandate opens a new cycle of activity at a critical moment for European health policy. With a renewed EU institutional landscape and the ongoing implementation of major health strategies and initiatives, this year’s programme will address a set of key policy priorities:

  • Health promotion and disease prevention

  • Health workforce resilience and skills development

  • Digital health, including data interoperability, AI and cybersecurity

  • Cross-border healthcare cooperation and access

  • Health investments and the future EU Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)

Looking ahead, EUREGHA is committed to supporting the work of the IRGHW and its members, helping to elevate the role of regions in building resilient, inclusive and innovative healthcare systems across the European Union.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming meetings and activities.
