Global Challenges, Territorial Answers: the Future of Health in Europe - Event organised by EUREGHA on behalf of the Committee of the Region's Interregional Group on Health and Well-being

In September, EUREGHA was pleased to welcome its newest member – Region Östergötland.

Region Östergötland is the fourth most populated region in Sweden with approximately 450,000 inhabitants, for whom Region Östergötland is responsible for organizing the healthcare, including dental care. The organization is also responsible for regional development. The main cities are Norrköping and Linköping, where the Linköping University Hospital, is located. The university hospital was chosen as the best hospital in terms of performance in 2015 in Sweden. Beyond the university hospital there are two other hospitals in Östergötland, one smaller and one mid-sized. There are 43 primary care centers out of which 9 are private operators. During the past years, the region has been focusing on developing the primary care and the 24/7 service activity at the hospitals. Since a few years back, the region is also working on health promotion and equal care.
