The European Commission welcomes the first EU Joint Programming Initiative to boost research on Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. Leading researchers from across Europe gathered in Stockholm last week to develop a European-wide research strategy to tackle neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.

Paola Testori Coggi becomes new SANCO Director-General

Robert Madelin, the European Commission's director-general for health and consumers, is to become director-general for information society and media, replacing Fabio Colasanti.
Paola Testori Coggi, who has been deputy director-general in the health and consumers department (Sanco) since 2007, will replace Madelin. The decisions was formally approved yesterday by the college of commissioners at their weekly meeting in Brussels.
